Adult
pottery classes are offered starting on the following dates in 2010:
Winter Session: January 18 - March 20 (8wks, $245)
Spring Session: April 5 - May 29 (8wks, $245)
Summer Session: June 14 - August 7 (8wks, $245)
Fall Session: September 13 - November 6 (8wks, $245)
Holiday Session: November 8 - December 18 (6wks, $200)

General
Information
Adult
Classes last 8 weeks and meet once a week for 3 hours. Class size
is limited to 19 students so that each student has use of the
wheel for the entire class period. Students are allowed and encouraged
to sit in on other classes when a wheel is available. $245.00.
Missed Sessions
(Adult Classes Only)
Students are encouraged to attend every class during the 8 week
course. When necessary, a missed session may be made up by attending
one of the other classes in session as long as there is a free
wheel available.
Studio
Hours
Students have unlimited use of the studio and are encouraged to
practice frequently.

Sat. 10:00am - 5:00pm
Clay
Class fees include 25 pounds of clay. If needed, additional clay
can be purchased at the Pot Shop.
Firing
and Glazing
All firing and glazes and included in class fee.
Class
Policies
Due to space limitations in the studio, all supplies must be removed
from bins at the end of the class session. All pots must be removed
from the studio within 30 days of class session ending.

Demonstrations and discussions include: Clays and their classifications,
basic firing and glazing techniques. Students will learn fundamental
skills and become proficient in executing basic shapes such as
cylinders, mugs, pitchers, and covered jars. Tools can be purchased
the first night of class
Intermediate
Pottery I - Wheel Throwing

Demonstration and discussion include: Aesthetics of form and
design. Fundamental skills are reviewed and practiced enabling
more challenging projects such as plates, larger bottles, vases
and bowls.
Intermediate
Pottery II - Wheel Throwing

Demonstrations and discussions include: Further exploration
of form, design and decorating technique. Students have the opportunity
to experiment with new surface treatments such as underglazes,
stains and slips. Increased skill level allows students to create
more advanced shapes such as platters, teapots and casseroles.
Advanced
Pottery - Wheel Throwing

Demonstrations and discussions include: Glaze formulation
and production pottery techniques. Shapes are geared toward individual
style with an emphasis on originality. Personalized instruction
enhances creativity. Pre-requisite: Intermediate Pottery.

Age 5-7 Handbuilding, Age 8-12 Wheel Throwing
Children will have fun learning to manipulate clay using it to
express their ideas while mastering basic techniques. Age 5-7
classes will cover pinch, coil and slab handbuilding techniques
as well as glazing. Age 8-12 classes will cover beginning wheel
skills such as centering, cylinders and basic shapes. All clay,
tools, and materials are provided for Children's Classes. Class
size is limited to ten students. Make-up sessions are not available
for Children's Classes.
Class
